Denver Data Center & Critical Infrastructure Construction
Design-build data center construction across Denver and the Front Range: enterprise, colocation, edge, and hyperscale-support facilities. Self-performed FM-rated IMP envelopes, Xcel Energy power coordination, and cooling designed for Denver's dry, high-altitude climate, where cool nights and low humidity stretch free-cooling hours and lower PUE.

How TCG Builds Data Centers in Denver
Denver and the Front Range are a growing market for enterprise, colocation, and edge data centers, supported by a deep downtown fiber and carrier-hotel ecosystem, Xcel Energy power, and a central location convenient for national operations. TCG builds critical infrastructure design-build: powered shells, enterprise data centers, colocation halls, and edge and modular deployments. We self-perform the insulated metal panel envelope, with more than 1 million SF of IMP installed across 38 states, which controls the envelope, the schedule, and the thermal performance a data center depends on.
Denver's climate is both an advantage and a design input. The dry air, low humidity, and cool nights at altitude give many more hours of air-side and evaporative free cooling than humid climates, which lowers PUE and operating cost, but the thinner air at a mile of elevation moves less mass per volume, so the cooling system has to be sized for it. Power coordination with Xcel Energy, redundancy such as N+1 or 2N, and the electrical and mechanical design drive the budget and schedule, and we engineer them in-house. Foundations account for the Front Range's expansive clay soils under heavy equipment loads, and buildings follow the Denver Building and Fire Code. See IMP installation, our in-house MEP, and the data center IMP guide.
We run design-build with in-house architecture and engineering, coordinate utility power and redundancy from the start, and bring direct manufacturer relationships to procurement. See the data center and critical infrastructure sector page and the data center construction guide for developers.
Denver Data Center Construction Cost Per Square Foot
Denver data centers run $130 to $1,250 per SF depending on whether you are building a powered shell or a fully fitted, redundant facility. Power density and redundancy drive the number. Denver runs roughly 0.98 to 1.05x of national. Use the estimator above and the data center cost guide for context.

300,000 SF Data Center Support Campus, North of Dallas
TCG erected and insulated three 100,000 SF pre-engineered metal buildings for the staging and storage campus of a new data center north of Dallas, Texas. Building 1 went from start of steel erection to sign-off in 41 days, and the full campus finished 30 days ahead of schedule.

On a data center campus the support buildings come first: staging, equipment storage, and laydown have to be dried in before long-lead electrical and mechanical gear arrives for the data hall. Crews ran early morning and night shifts under light towers, with roof panels, wall cladding, and insulation moving in parallel instead of in sequence.
TCG brings the same schedule-first crews and PEMB and IMP self-perform capability to data center projects in Denver.
- Scope: PEMB steel erection, roof and wall panels, and insulation
- Use: staging and equipment storage for a new data center campus
- Schedule: parallel crews on extended shifts
- Result: 300,000 SF delivered 30 days early

TCG most recently erected and insulated a 300,000 SF data center support campus north of Dallas, Texas: three 100,000 SF pre-engineered metal buildings for a new data center’s staging and storage campus. Building 1 went from start of steel erection to sign-off in 41 days, and the full campus finished 30 days ahead of schedule in fall 2026. TCG brings the same crews and self-perform capability to data center projects in Denver.
Denver data centers run $130 to $1,250 per SF. A powered shell is about $130 to $260, an enterprise build $600 to $1,100, colocation $700 to $1,250, and edge or modular $250 to $650, with the FM-rated IMP envelope about $14 to $30. Power density and redundancy drive the number. Use the estimator above and the data center cost guide.
Powered shells, enterprise data centers, colocation halls, and edge and modular deployments, with the FM-rated IMP envelope self-performed and the electrical and mechanical engineered in-house. See the data center and critical infrastructure sector page.
Denver has a deep downtown fiber and carrier-hotel ecosystem, Xcel Energy power, a central position for national operations, and a dry, cool climate that lowers cooling cost. Those make the Front Range attractive for enterprise, colocation, and edge facilities.
Denver's dry air, low humidity, and cool nights give many more hours of air-side and evaporative free cooling than humid climates, which reduces PUE and operating cost. We design the cooling system to take advantage of economization while meeting the facility's reliability targets.
Yes. Thinner air at a mile of elevation carries less mass per volume, so air-cooled equipment and air movement have to be sized for the altitude. We account for it in the mechanical design through our in-house MEP team so capacity and redundancy hold up.
The insulated metal panel envelope controls the thermal performance, air-tightness, and schedule of a critical facility. Self-performing IMP, with more than 1 million SF installed across 38 states, gives us direct control of the envelope and the timeline. See IMP installation and the data center IMP guide.
We coordinate utility power with Xcel Energy early, design the electrical distribution and backup to the redundancy target such as N+1 or 2N, and engineer the mechanical and electrical systems in-house so the power, cooling, and envelope are designed together rather than in sequence.
Heavy generators, UPS, and equipment loads sit on the region's expansive clay soils, which can heave. Foundations usually use drilled piers and structural slabs designed to the geotechnical report, coordinated from preconstruction under the Denver Building Code.
